WALKING RUGBY
Exeter Athletic Rugby Team
Walking Rugby · No running. No contact. All welcome.

What is Walking Rugby?
Walking Rugby is a slower-paced, non-contact version of the game, built around passing, movement and teamwork rather than speed or collisions. It's open to anyone — ex-players, those managing an injury or health condition, and complete newcomers who fancy a go with a rugby ball for the first time.
'Walking Rugby' are Exeter Athletic's newest team
- built for anyone who wants to stay involved in the game at their own pace.

The Basics
No running — one foot must stay on the ground at all times, with or without the ball
No contact — a two-handed touch counts as a tackle
No rucks, mauls or lineouts — scrums are unopposed, max 3 players per side, standing upright
Passing is backwards or level only — no forward passes
Tries are scored by carrying the ball over the line — no need to ground it
Games are split into four 5-minute quarters, with a short break between each
Up to 7 players a side, with rolling substitutes

What to bring
- Comfortable trainers or flat-soled footwear (studs only if playing on grass)
-A water bottle
-No jewellery — please remove before play begins
-A bib will be provided to show which team you're on

Getting Involved
No experience needed and no registration required to give it a try — just turn up. If you're managing a health condition or you're unsure whether Walking Rugby is right for you, a quick chat with your GP beforehand is sensible, as with any new physical activity.New players are always welcome — bring a friend, and stay for a cuppa in the clubhouse afterwards.
